Tony Damewood

Dr. Tony Damewood assumed the role of Clarkson College President in summer 2016, following the transition of former College President, Dr. Louis Burgher, to President Emeritus.

Dr. Damewood earned a B.A. degree in psychology from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa in 1990. After graduating, he worked for five years as the Director of Admissions and was also the head baseball coach at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. His success with the baseball program led him to a new opportunity as the head coach at Bluefield College in Virginia.

After four additional years of coaching baseball and earning his M.B.A. from Averett College in 1998, Mr. Damewood joined the Clarkson College community as the Director of Admissions. In 2001 he received a promotion as the Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services. The combination of Dr. Damewood’s success in this role and a restructure of leadership at the College in 2005 led to his appointment as the Vice President of Operations. In 2014, Dr. Damewood earned his Ph.D. in Human Capital Management from Bellevue University.

In his role as College President, Dr. Damewood attends various student-related affairs throughout the year and is continuously proposing new strategies and ideas to further enrich the educational experience for Clarkson College students. He also leads a number of employee-specific meetings and initiatives to further enhance the work environment for College faculty and staff.

From 2008–2012, Dr. Damewood coached baseball for the Millard Athletic Association. He is an active member of his church and has volunteered several years as a Little League coach.
