The online 21-credit hour Clarkson College Human Services certificate program is ideal for individuals who have a passion for helping people in need to improve their quality of life. This is a diverse group and may include children and families, the elderly, homeless people, immigrants, people with additions, people with disabilities and many more. Courses are offered year-round and on a part- or full-time basis. Students entering the program with little or no college experience may complete their prerequisite courses at Clarkson College.

Coursework focuses on the characteristics and challenges of working with at risk populations, how human services agencies function within the community, the importance of boundaries for human service workers, and the role of governmental programs in human services.

Opportunities in human services are available in human service agencies, community action programs, daycare centers, employment agencies, educational settings, in work with the elderly, correctional facilities, substance abuse programs, and with those individuals who may have emotional, physical or developmental problems.

Earning a certificate in Human Services will not only allow you to gain specialized knowledge of the field of human services; it will also distinguish you from others in your workplace or employment market.
