Diversity describes the various ways in which we differ from one another – including unconscious differences like values, beliefs, tolerance, levels of patience, perceptions, stereotypes, world perspectives and life experiences. These unconscious differences impact/influence how we accept each other in more obvious categories, such as age, color, disability, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religious beliefs.
The Diversity Council will lead Clarkson College in developing sensitive community support and awareness of diverse individual value systems. This will be accomplished by creating a learning environment that enhances the human potential of all community members as they carry out the values of the organization.
Clarkson College, together with The Nebraska Medical Center, is committed to increasing opportunities for minority students to succeed in the growing, dynamic field of nursing. The Gateway to Success Minority Nursing Scholarship has been generously funded by Clarkson Regional Health Services and The Nebraska Medical Center to support a select number of worthy minority students each year. Each scholarship includes a summer work internship at The Nebraska Medical Center, which provides $5,000 in additional funds. More information about this scholarship
